Disclaimer: This resource is not a formal endorsement of any of the listed trainings, but simply a compiled list of available trainings to streamline access for hubs. It is updated and reviewed annually by the Equity Team at the YWHO Provincial Office. It’s therefore possible that the information within this document becomes out of date between updates. It is your Hub’s responsibility to vet the trainings to ensure they align with your hub needs, budget constraints and values.

Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (IPHCC)
Advanced follow-up course focusing on mental health challenges in Indigenous communities and culturally safe strategies to address them. Examines historical traumas and contemporary barriers in mental health care, with emphasis on Indigenous healing approaches and trauma-informed supports. Prerequisite: Foundations of ICS.

Trauma has an impact on not only the individuals we serve but also everyone we encounter. Trauma can lead to or increase mental illness, substance misuse, and physical illness. The very services that were designed to help individuals sometimes may be the cause of trauma or re-traumatization. This training provides an understanding of how to create structures and systems that recognize the traumas that exist and that prioritize the wellness of young people and program staff.
