Youth Advisory Council Multimedia Project

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Multimedia Project is a new initiative co-created with youth and the Provincial Office team to give local YACs the resources and funds to share what their hub looks like, what they do and how they do it! This fund is open for YACs at all 32 hubs to use for unique, creative projects that showcase their hub.

How it works

The Provincial Office will fund up to $6000 for hubs and their local YACs to showcase the ways YWHO's core components are implemented at the hub that wouldn't be captured in other places, like regular data reports. Each project must touch on one to three of the core components. At a minimum, the project must focus on the Youth & Family Engagement theme, and must involve youth in the idea generation, development and implementation of the project.

The Application Process

To apply for funding, visit the link to get started on your application. Make sure you have spoken with a member of the hub staff prior to applying so that they are aware of your YAC's participation in the project. 

Your application must include: 

  1. Responses to the questions within the application form.

Frequently Asked Questions for Multimedia Project

Can we use data along with our project?

Yes, hubs can use their own data for this project. However, there are a few things to do before you can use the data. Here's a quick outline:

  • YACs must get approval from the hub network to use the data (usually from the hub manager)
  • Make sure there is no identifying information in the data. For example, frequencies less than 6; or quotes that may describe specific people. Consult with the hub manager if you have any questions about identifying information.
Who owns the final product?

The hubs that create the final product own the final product. The Provincial Office might ask to use the final product in media promotion, funding reports, conference presentations and other sharing opportunities. Hubs would have to agree to the intended use of the Provincial Office.

What else can we use the project for?

While the goal of this project is to showcase the work hubs are doing around the YWHO Core Components, you can use this project for other things at your hub.

For example, you can use the content for advertising your hub, either through a video format or visual format. You could also use this as an opportunity to gather information on what youth who access services like about the hub to inform service delivery. It is up to you if you want to use this project in other ways – but it is not mandatory.

What's the difference between a Core Component and a theme? How many themes do we have to touch on for this project?

YWHO is modeled around 6 Core Components – they help organize goals, successes, and challenges at each YWHO Hub. They also help make sure that youth and their families are receiving the best possible care regardless of which hub they access.

To make things a little simpler, we are calling the Core Components "themes". Themes are important elements, central topics, or "big ideas' for this creative work.

For this project, we are asking for your application to touch on one to three themes of your choice. You have the choice to highlight the great work being done at your hub on any of the six themes. Note that we are NOT asking that you talk about all six; only one to three of them.

Can we use these funds for multiple projects?

You can only use the funding for the items outlined in the budget you submit with your application.
